Dev Log #2 Production


The actual production process of our team went smoother than I thought. Our team followed what we planned on Trello. The art team was working on the character art as well as the UI for the game. There are two characters that we were working on: Aukai and Beatrice. Aukai is a surfing guy from Hawaii, who wished to buy his own surfing shop. Our team decided to make him wear a tank top with a head band. While for Beatrice, she is a shy programmer who wish to buy her own house. We make her a typical programmer look with a glass and grid T-shirt.


For narrative team, a lot of work has been down on adjusting the hint system for our game. For the version we used in playtest01, the hint system is just an option, player can confirm the choice without looking at the hint. This actually turns out to be a bad idea because some testers did not notice the hint options there and end up with unwanted bad ending. For the second playtest, we changed the hints system based on our feedback from the playtest01. The hint system knows become an additional conversation between player and the customer and player have to go through the hints before they hit confirm. This turns out fine for now before we further analyze the playtest 02 outcome.

For the actual implementation of the game, the only issues we encountered is that when we were trying to highlight certain words within a sentence to draw player attention, the Unity did not show the words correctly. But problems were solved shortly.


Overall, the production as well as the playtest goes well. We are looking forward for our next build as well as the next playtest.
